House of Challenge is a reality webmagazine for African youth aspiring to realize their dreams and make their mark on the international stage. The concept is simple: for 14 days, eleven young Africans from different countries, joined by a special guest from another continent (Haiti for this edition), will live together under the same roof and take on various challenges.
The « Zero Waste, Clean Future » project, led by EcoCycle Africa, aims to reduce plastic pollution in Conakry, Guinea by promoting sustainable solutions and encouraging citizens to adopt responsible waste management practices. In response to the growing amount of plastic waste in the city, this initiative seeks to improve the urban environment, protect public health, and create local economic opportunities.
Every day, large amounts of plastic waste are discarded in streets, drainage systems, and public spaces, contributing to environmental degradation and increasing the risk of diseases. The project aims to transform this challenge into an opportunity for sustainable development through waste reduction, recycling, and community awareness.
One of the project’s main actions is to promote the use of biodegradable alternatives to single-use plastics, such as eco-friendly bags and packaging. EcoCycle Africa plans to collaborate with local partners and producers to facilitate access to environmentally friendly solutions.
The project also emphasizes public awareness through information campaigns, workshops in schools, and community activities. The goal is to encourage citizens, especially young people, to adopt environmentally responsible behaviors.
Finally, the « Zero Waste, Clean Future » initiative will establish waste collection points and organize networks of waste collectors to improve sorting and recycling processes. This initiative will not only help make the city cleaner but also create sustainable jobs and promote the development of a circular economy in Guinea.
